Ramped double glazed doors open directly onto the car park and provide an emergency exit with railings directly off the main hall. The toilets include a spacious unisex accessible toilet with a baby change facility and are easily accessed through double doors from the main hall. There are level unobstructed floors throughout the building. The main hall and adjoining WI room are connected by widely opening double doors.

The Main Hall

The main hall is very light and spacious with a beautiful hardwood floor and is regularly used for different sorts of dance events. It has a large well-equipped stage regularly used by our resident drama company for performances and rehearsals. It is very suitable for events such as wedding receptions, parties, live bands and shows, social events, concerts etc. Lighting and a PA system are available. Maximum capacity is 100 persons for a seated meal or sit-at-table function.

The hall links to the adjoining smaller WI room by two sets of double doors so the two spaces are easily used together if required. The WI room is linked to the kitchen by a door and serving hatch so these three spaces may easily be used together for any event which involves servicing with food or drink or needs a separate eating space.  The main hall has a good ramped emergency exit. The toilets are easily accessed through double doors from the hall.

Women’s Institute (WI) Side Room

This room is connected to the Main Hall by two pairs of wooden/glass doors so it can be easily used in conjunction with the hall and /or the kitchen. It is also often used as a separate meeting room with or without the kitchen. It is bright and well lighted by several windows and 2 glazed doors, one of which is an emergency exit route. The room has a door into the kitchen and a serving hatch that opens from the kitchen.

It is regularly used as a café style venue comfortably servicing several small tables, each seating about 4 people. The serving hatch between this room and the spacious well-appointed kitchen make it easy to provide and distribute refreshments. So bacon butties and coffee, tea and cake are regularly served up at events such as the Friday Market, Tea and Chat and the Village Fete!

Jessica Albery Room

This is the smallest of the main rooms and is just a short distance from the kitchen, down a short corridor, at the rear of the building. It has windows on 3 sides and two doors on the fourth so it is well lit with natural light. It is behind the stage and is used at times as a changing room for the stage or artists performing at the hall.

It is also used as a separate meeting room for approximately 10-12 people. It is adjacent to a separate WC and close to a separate emergency exit onto the rear car park by the kitchen.

Market Meadow

The Meadow leads down to the River Darent which is well known for its old cattle grid, the Lion Hotel and the occasional duck race!
